Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to learn more about me—not just as an educator and public servant, but as a neighbor, a parent, and a lifelong believer in the power of public education.

Proud to have been raised in the Santa Maria Valley, where I attended Adam Elementary—home of the Adam Angels—El Camino Junior High, and Santa Maria High School.

My family ran the Stardust Motel in Santa Maria. Growing up in a 24/7 small business taught me the meaning of a good work ethic, responsibility, and service. That's me on the right!

In 2017, I became Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools. It has been an honor to serve the students, families, and schools of Santa Barbara County.

My husband Bard—a teacher for 36 years—and I have two wonderful children. Their love and support keep me grounded in this work.
